Editor’s Note: Starting today, we’re kicking off a local marketing campaign in Las Vegas, Nevada, to spread the word about Google Places and Hotpot among visitors, locals and small businesses. We’ve teamed up with the Las Vegas Monorail to distribute 10,000 free single-ride tickets starting at noon today, while supplies last, at all monorail stations along the Strip.

As anyone who has been here knows, Las Vegas and “sensory overload” are nearly synonymous. There are so many things to do -— choosing the best hotel, the best restaurant, the best show to see, and the best shops to find that last-minute outfit for the club. The last thing anyone wants to do in Vegas is spend too much time deciding what to do and not enough time actually doing it!

We want to make this a bit easier for you with the Google Places app, your own personalized pocket guide to Vegas. When you rate places and share recommendations with friends and family, you’ll be able to quickly see exactly which places they recommend, making it easier than ever to decide where to go. And now that you have the ability to share reviews with friends and family via Twitter, it’s even easier to share your favorite places in Vegas and see what others like too.

In the spirit of helping you get where you’re going quicker, we’ve teamed up with the Las Vegas Monorail to distribute 10,000 free tickets starting at noon today, while supplies last at all stations. We’ve also begun distributing our NFC-enabled “Recommended on Google” window decals, which allows users with compatible smartphones - such as the Nexus S - to tap their phone on the decal and instantly get information about that business.

And, any Las Vegas–area business can order customized kits via the Google Places Catalog to receive all kinds of free, fun and customized schwag that might encourage customers to rate the business on Hotpot and help bring the right customers through their doors.
