A couple things we know to be true about Hotpot, our new local recommendation engine powered by you and your friends:
- Regardless of where you might be in the world or what language you speak, you want Hotpot so that you can rate the places you know — restaurants, cafes, hotels — and get recommendations for new places you’ll love. We hear you.
- Hotpot is better with your friends, who may be located in far flung places around the world.
And so I’m very happy to say that as of this week, Hotpot is now available in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Korean, Polish, Russian, Spanish, and 30 more new languages. Now more people can share their ratings and reviews about places all over the globe with one another. This also means that your local searches for places you might want to visit — whether they’re in the U.S., France or Russia — will be more relevant and trustworthy, since we’ll be surfacing personalized results based on the tastes of you and your friends.
As a nice bonus, Hotpot is already mobile in many languages. The keen observer might have noticed that Hotpot ratings and recommendations works in all the languages and countries that Google Maps for Android already supports.
This should be particularly good news for people who enjoy traveling. What better way to find a great place to visit in a new city than by having a Hotpot friend recommend hidden gems?
Start rating and invite your friends living around the world to share recommendations with you at google.com/hotpot.
